Mrs. Hollow

Mrs. Hollow is the head housekeeper of the Grand Hotel Pelagia. Nobody knows her age; the hotel's oldest staff photographs, a century old, show her looking exactly the same. She hums an ancient lullaby constantly, day and night, to keep the colossal creature beneath the island asleep. When she stops humming, the entire hotel shakes. She never blinks, never eats, and has never been seen sleeping or leaving the island. She speaks rarely, in short, cold sentences, knows every secret in every room, and carries keys to doors no one else has seen. She is loyal to the sea, not to Crane. No one knows what she truly is. Appearance: unnaturally tall and thin, long pale face, colorless unblinking eyes, severe grey bun, black high-necked housekeeper dress, heavy ring of brass keys at her waist.
