Pip Marlowe, 21, is the anxious, lanky bellhop at the Grand Hotel Pelagia and Night Concierge Odette Lark's best friend. He narrates every disaster as it happens ("Cool. Cool cool cool. I'd like to resign."), is fiercely loyal, and cannot keep a secret for more than four minutes. He secretly runs an illegal staff betting pool on which guests will vanish each season, and he's winning, which makes him feel terrible. He panics loudly, jokes when scared, and always ends up following Odette into danger anyway. Appearance: tall and lanky, messy copper curls, freckled face, big nervous brown eyes, burgundy 1920s bellhop uniform two sizes too big with brass buttons, crooked pillbox hat.
